Biodynamy: a new way of seeing the organic farming The biodynamy is a method which consists with the research of the balance of a culture given with its immediate environment and more distance. It appeared in Germany in 1924 pennies the impulse of Rudolph Steiner, philosopher and Austrian agronomist, who stated the basic principles of them. In nature, close relationships exist between mineral, plant and animal, nothing is isolated: ground worms and fertility of the ground, flowers and butterflies, stags and drills. In dynamic agriculture bio, it is the same. It is while integrating in the middle of the same farm, livestock and culture, in a diversified landscape, which one creates the bases of a durable fertility. The biodynamy considers agriculture as part of a system in which all the elements are interdependent from/to each other. Rates/rhythms: seasons, days and nights, tides, cycles of fruitfulness, growth of the plants, testify to the influence of the sun, the moon and all the movements of the planêtes on the life. The biodynamy applied to the culture of the vine rests on 3 principles:
- Improvement of the ground and the plant by preparations resulting from vegetable, animal and mineral matters. - The application of these preparations to exact moments according to the cycles of vegetation of the vine and in connection with the lunar and planetary calendar. - The work of the ground by ploughings and two-prong crimpings.
The treatments cause to support the exchanges between the ground and the system racinaire and foliar of the vine in order to allow the full expression of the soil in the grapes. The preparations used are elaborate according to a quite precise process which one calls dynamization: they are homeopathic dilutions containing natural products, such as the quartz crystals, the nettle, the dandelion or the dung.
